Mommy, I want this!..Honey, Come Here!

As a mother of three children I know first-hand the demands on a mother’s time. With work, church, kids, business, being a wife and so much more, how does one balance it all? This can be tough.

You don't want to disappoint anyone and you definitely don't want anyone to feel like they’re being neglected. At times you feel like you are being pulled in seven different directions. Jealousy can rise up in your spouse and they may resent the time you spend with the kids.

One day my husband had a heart to heart with me and said “You do know when these kids are grown, they will be gone and it will be just the two of us?"

That one question made me think about a dear couple we knew. The kids grew up, moved out and the couple realized they had nothing in common. Their marriage revolved around the kids.  Their schoolwork, their after school activities and teaching them how to be productive citizens in this world. When the time came for the couple to be empty nesters and enjoy each other, they realized they didn't even like one another.

Wow! What a waste of 25 plus years of marriage. Now they are both starting over.

Don't let that happen in your marriage.

Take time for one another today. Spend time together without the kids. Go to an amusement park. Go bowling. Take a walk. Try something new. Start a hobby together. Just do something that the two of you enjoy. It’s not too late. Start today.

Stay Blessed!
